About The Position

Provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. The Medical Assistant receives continued training in all aspects of the role. The position is with Hartford HealthCare Medical Group, a physician-led medical group offering primary care, urgent care, and more than 30 specialties at locations throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Requirements

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program, or active Connecticut CNA, EMT, Paramedic, or Medic certification; alternatively, at least one year of direct patient care experience in an acute or ambulatory setting may be considered in lieu of the education requirement.
• Certified BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association, obtained within 90 days of hire or job transfer.
• Maintain all required credentials throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

• Relevant experience or a Medical Assistant externship in a busy medical office.
• EPIC EMR experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of a provider, including taking vital signs; completing allergy and medication reconciliation, screenings, patient history, health maintenance, and advance directives; and supporting virtual health.
• Provide indirect patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education, including scheduling, check-in and check-out, referrals, chart preparation, and prior authorizations.
• Conduct point-of-care testing, including quality control and documentation.
• Perform administrative duties and cover the front desk based on business needs.
• Float to other offices based on business needs.
