About The Position
US Heart and Vascular is seeking a Medical Assistant to join its team at Cardiovascular Care of Covington in Covington, Louisiana. The Medical Assistant supports patient care and physicians by collecting and documenting patient information, preparing patients and examination rooms, assisting with examinations and treatment, handling prescription-related tasks, and operating diagnostic equipment.
Requirements
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program.
- Previous experience in cardiology.
- Experience with EKGs is required.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients and measure and record vital signs, including pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height.
- Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
- Record patients’ medical histories, vital statistics, test results, and other information in medical records.
- Help physicians examine and treat patients.
- Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and keep rooms neat and clean.
- Operate electrocardiogram (EKG) or other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.
