About The Position

Saint Alphonsus Health System is seeking a passionate and motivated Medical Assistant to support a busy Orthopedic Surgeon at the Riverside Orthopedics clinic in the Fruitland Health Plaza. The position is primarily based at the Fruitland Orthopedics clinic, with occasional coverage at the Nampa Orthopedics satellite clinic. The clinic provides surgical and non-surgical orthopedic care through board-certified surgeons and interdisciplinary clinical teams.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required at hire.
Medical Assistant certification from a Saint Alphonsus-approved agency required within 90 days of hire.
Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers from AHA, ARC, or the Military Training Network required at hire.
For new graduates: MA certificate of completion from an accredited program or school, plus a 100-hour MA externship or six months of MA experience in lieu of the externship hours.
For Medical Assistants with experience: one year of MA experience, or current MA certification, or obtaining or renewing certification within 90 days of hire from an approved credentialing agency.
EMT and CNA certifications do not count toward the MA certification requirement.

Responsibilities

Perform typical Medical Assistant duties in an orthopedic clinic.
Prepare injections for minor procedures.
Complete chart preparation.
Apply durable medical equipment (DME).
Remove sutures.
Assist with surgery scheduling and prior authorizations, including MRI authorizations.
Potentially assist with casting and cast removal.
Occasionally provide coverage at the Nampa Orthopedics clinic.
