About The Position

Supports the healthcare team in delivering high-quality care to students and faculty across all ASU Health Services clinic locations in the Phoenix metro area (West, Tempe, Polytechnic, and Downtown), with Tempe serving as the primary site. This position requires regular travel and flexibility to float between clinic locations based on operational needs. Provides administrative support, direct patient care assistance, and front- and back-office functions to ensure efficient clinic operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, rooming patients, managing patient flow, obtaining and documenting vital signs, performing lab draws, serving as a chaperone, and assisting providers with medical procedures. Maintains a professional, positive, and energetic demeanor while delivering accurate, compassionate service.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and one (1) year of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Perform front desk duties, including but not limited to: answering incoming telephone calls, obtaining and verifying patient information, patient check-in/out, coordinating and facilitating accurate patient appointments, and reconciliation of insurance details.
  • Manage patient flow.
  • Complete patient intake and enter details in to Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Obtain patient reason for visit, past medical history, vital signs, medication reconciliation, allergies, and assist with medical examinations.
  • Administer screening questionnaires.
  • Maintain accurate and strict confidentiality of patient information in EMR as established by appropriate protocols, regulations, and policies.
  • Perform procedures, such as venipuncture, EKGs, wound dressing, and medication administration (oral, ID, SQ IM).
  • Administer immunizations in accordance with written policies.
  • Assist providers with exams and minor surgeries.
  • Prepare for procedures with all necessary instruments, supplies, and consent forms.
  • Applying ortho splints, the application of DME appliances, and the removal of casts.
  • Maintains an inventory of medication and medical supplies as necessary.
  • Completes physician orders and provides instructions and directions to patients as needed.
  • Entering lab results and other patient results in EMR.
  • Performs and participates in the sterilization of instruments, assists, and maintains infection control standards.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Provide training and work direction to new ASU Health Services team members and extern students as directed by the supervisor.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
