This position is for a Medical Assistant in a Women's Health Clinic. The role involves direct patient care, administrative tasks, and maintaining clinical records. The Medical Assistant provides care under the medical direction of a Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) and the administrative direction of the Nurse Executive or designee. Responsibilities include assisting with patient histories, vital signs, preparing charts, using Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Resource Patient Management System (RPMS), and assisting with medical exams. The role also contributes to unit functioning by answering phones, delivering messages, and escorting patients. The Medical Assistant monitors patients, reports changes in condition, and maintains a courteous and professional demeanor. They are responsible for accurate data input into unit computer systems and assisting with patient appointments, discharges, and transfers. Patient education and discharge instructions are also part of the role, as is practicing Infection Control/Safety principles. The position involves drawing blood, obtaining various specimens, performing CLIA-waived testing, and administering injections. General maintenance duties, restocking supplies, and assisting with inventory are also required. The Medical Assistant may also assist in the orientation of new personnel and participates in relevant committees and Quality Management activities. They must complete all yearly Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) required training.
