Medical Assistant | Physiatry
About The Position

At Logan Health, our Physiatry team is dedicated to supporting patients through compassionate and coordinated care. We are seeking a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) and/or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support clinical care, patient communication, care coordination, and day-to-day clinic operations within the Physiatry department. This role plays an important part in creating a positive patient experience by assisting providers, preparing patients for exams and procedures, obtaining medical histories and vital signs, documenting accurately, coordinating care needs, and supporting patients with professionalism, empathy, and respect.
Requirements
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Current licensure as required for the position.
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA): Current Registered Medical Assistant credential through an accredited certifying organization.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA): Certification in one (1) of the following required: Certified Medical Assistant Exam through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant Exam through American Medical Technologists (AMT), Clinical Medical Assistant Exam through the National Health Career Association (NHA), National Certified Medical Assistant Exam through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), Clinical Medical Assistant Certification through American Medical Certification Association (AMCA).
- RQI Provider (BLS) required within seven (7) days of hire/transfer or before providing independent patient care, whichever comes first.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Commitment to professionalism, patient confidentiality, and exceptional patient care.
- Ability to act with integrity, kindness, and empathy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn additional software systems as needed.
Nice To Haves
- One (1) year of experience in a medical practice setting preferred.
- Medical office experience and medical terminology training preferred.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, basic laboratory values, pharmacology, infection control practices, and HIPAA requirements preferred.
Responsibilities
- Greet, room, and prepare patients for examinations and treatments, including obtaining medical histories and vital signs.
- Assist providers during examinations, procedures, and treatments while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Collect laboratory specimens, perform competency-validated clinical tasks, and accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record.
- Coordinate patient care activities, including referrals, diagnostic testing, prior authorizations, scheduling, and follow-up appointments.
- Support daily clinic operations by maintaining exam rooms, equipment, and supplies while assisting with patient calls and portal communications.
