About The Position

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! As a Medical Assistant, you will be preparing for each patient visit by preparing charts and pulling notes before their arrival, providing routine support alongside nurses and medical staff, and assisting with keeping track of tests and lab reporting to ensure everything arrives on time and the patient is kept informed on their condition and care. You will also be helping manage the inventory of medical supplies, setting up machines and testing equipment, and cleaning instruments and rooms as needed. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, an interest in learning more about a working medical environment, and has previous office experience. -Works with Lead Scheduler and scheduling/reception team to ensure all schedulers/receptionists are competent and represent the VA in a positive, proactive demeanor. 2.5. Works with Lead Scheduler to achieve all patient communications are completed on time and appropriately. 2.6. Coordinates and authorizes Veteran care with community providers that the VA does not supply or cannot supply timely. 2.7. Communicates with internal medical providers on rules and regulations for VA Community Care and advises on appropriate processes. 2.8. Contractor personnel shall notify their contractor-designated supervisor when automated systems are not performing as required. The Contractor shall be responsible for notifying the designated VA point of contact (e.g., COR or VA manager) of system issues that impact performance. Validates and update patient demographic information. 2.9. When records are received, the contractor will ensure that all necessary health/administrative information are processed to be integrated into Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) and the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA). 2.10. Properly processes community care consults via HealthShare Referral Manager (HSRM) and Provider Profile Management System (PPMS) systems and/or other systems as needed. 2.11. Screens/receives phone calls in a courteous and timely manner. 2.12. Responds to telephone inquiries regarding delivery of services. 2.13. Daily computer use of Microsoft office products to include Excel, Word, Outlook & Microsoft Teams.

Requirements

  • BLS Certification or Certified Medical Assistant desired
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Previous office experience
