In this role, you'll help keep the clinic running smoothly while providing hands-on support to patients and the care team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of work experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Familiarity with general medical terminology.
  • Ability to maintain accurate patient records and confidential information.
  • Basic computer and data-entry skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work independently.
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and assist throughout their clinic visit.
  • Measure and document vital signs and communicate abnormal findings to nursing staff or providers.
  • Assist with scheduling new and follow-up appointments.
  • Help ensure patients have a smooth arrival and check-out experience.
  • Recognize urgent or emergency situations and respond according to established procedures.
  • Prepare, clean, disinfect and maintain clinic equipment and exam rooms.
  • Stock exam rooms and maintain necessary clinical supplies and linens.
  • Collect, prepare and secure laboratory specimens for testing or transport, as needed.
  • Accurately document information in the patient's electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Access laboratory and radiology results and outside medical records.
  • Update patient demographic information and coordinate follow-up appointments.
  • Assist with obtaining and organizing clinical documentation for provider review.
  • Request medical records from outside facilities and scan appropriate documentation into the EMR.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
  • Provide professional, courteous and compassionate service to patients, caregivers and team members.
  • Communicate clinic needs, concerns and activities to leadership.
  • Assist with telephone calls and route inquiries to the appropriate team member.
  • Follow established safety and infection-prevention practices.
  • Participate in quality and safety initiatives that support excellent patient care.
