About The Position

The Medical Assistant assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a Physician. The role includes patient intake and vital-sign measurement, preparing examination and treatment rooms, supporting physicians during procedures, maintaining patient and office records, performing routine clinical tasks, and helping manage medical supplies. The position is center-based in a clinical setting, with moderate noise and potential exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens.

Requirements

• Medical Assistant experience.
• CPT I certification.
• Experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital signs, and IM injections.
• Ability to work well under pressure and respond quickly.
• Neat and professional appearance.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Vocational certificate in Medical Assistant.
• Ability to stand and sit for hours at a time, with some bending and stooping.
• Manual dexterity sufficient for clinical requirements.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information in patient charts.
• Prepare treatment and examination rooms, including preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
• Position and drape patients and hand instruments and materials to the physician as directed.
• Assist physicians with examinations, treatment, minor office procedures, and charting.
• Clean and sterilize instruments.
• Inventory and order medical supplies and materials.
• Give injections or treatments and perform routine laboratory tests.
• Perform venipunctures, EKGs, vital-sign measurements, blood draws, and injections.
• Enter data into the computer to maintain office and patient records.
• Audit charts and review CPT and ICD-9 information.
• Assist with prescription refills, faxing, and filing.
• Adhere to standards of business conduct and compliance.
• Communicate clearly and positively with customers and coworkers, contribute to the team, and complete work commitments and goals.
