About The Position

Preferred Primary Care Physicians is seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant for their office in Bethel Park, PA. The successful candidate will be responsible for back-office duties including rooming patients, taking vitals, administering injections, and patient triage. This role also involves assisting physicians and nurses with patient care, clerical tasks, and maintaining exam rooms. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of medical assistant.
  • Agreeable to completing back office medical assistant duties that include rooming patients, vitals, injections, and triage when a need arises in the medical office.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting preferred.
  • Open to new graduate applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam or treatment rooms as appropriate.
  • Records all patient data prior to the physician or nurse seeing the patient, including vital signs, height and weight, allergies, medications, chief complaint, reason for visit, etc.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as directed by the physician.
  • Answers and returns patient phone calls as directed.
  • Contacts pharmacies for prescriptions or answers patient telephone calls for referrals.
  • Handles other patient telephone calls as directed by the physician, nurse or Office Manager.
  • Obtains all necessary patient record information, lab data, diagnostics, consults, etc. as required by the physician or nurse for assessment of the patient's medical status.
  • Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed in accordance with OSHA and universal safety precautions.
  • Assists with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Assists with scheduling tests, procedures or appointments to follow-up on test results.
  • Prepares, maintains and stocks exam and treatment rooms.
  • Orders supplies as needed.
  • Obtains new patient information and any test results.
  • Assists with administrative duties such as typing, faxing, reception duties, etc.
  • Processes instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Informs physician of patient reschedule or no-shows.
  • Assists with delegated patient education activities including but not limited to distributing educational literature, etc.
  • Maintains the strictest confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the physician, nurse or office manager.
