About The Position

Preferred Primary Care Physicians is currently recruiting for a Full-Time, Experienced, Licensed Practical Nurse for our practice located at in Bethel Park near South Hills Village. The successful candidate will be a practicing LPN with at least 6 months of clinical medical experience. Top consideration paid for those candidates with family practice experience. Phlebotomy skills are required. This position is a full-time, non exempt hourly position with flexible scheduling available for the right candidate. General Purpose of the Licensed Practical Nurse: The LPN is responsible for assisting physicians and nurses with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. May assist with appointment scheduling and electronic chart management.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school in Practical Nursing.
  • At least 6 months experience as a practicing LPN.
  • Phlebotomy skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam or treatment rooms as appropriate.
  • Records all patient data prior to the physician or nurse seeing the patient. This includes vital signs, height and weight, allergies, medications, chief complaint, reason for visit, etc.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as directed by the physician.
  • Answers and returns patient phone calls as directed.
  • Is responsible for contacting pharmacies for prescriptions or may answer patient telephone calls for referrals.
  • May handle other patient telephone calls as directed by the physician, nurse or Office Manager.
  • Obtains all necessary patient record information, lab data, diagnostics, consults, etc. as required by the physician or nurse for assessment of the patient's medical status.
  • Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed in accordance with OSHA and universal safety precautions
  • Assists with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Assists with scheduling tests, procedures or appointments to follow-up on test results
  • Prepares, maintains and stocks exam and treatment rooms.
  • Orders supplies as needed.
  • Obtains new patient information and any test results.
  • Assists with administrative duties such as typing, faxing, reception duties, etc.
  • Processes instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Informs physician of patient reschedule or no-shows.
  • Assists with delegated patient education activities including but not limited to distributing educational literature, etc.
  • Maintains the strictest confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the physician, nurse or office manager.
