The Medical Assistant will adhere to the Medical Assistant scope of practice, follow all policies and procedures, and maintain training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care. This role involves performing rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings. The Medical Assistant will assist providers with or perform procedures as ordered, and handle lab-related duties including venipuncture, specimen collection, and results tracking. They will also perform Point of Care testing (POCT) and complete CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests. Administering medications and vaccines safely is a key responsibility, along with other duties such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, patient messaging, and appointment scheduling. The Medical Assistant will be cross-trained to perform duties relevant to specialty or clinic practice, demonstrate effective communication and teamwork, and maintain a clean work environment. This role requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, understanding principles of growth and development over the life span.
