About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides patient care under the direction of a provider. Duties include patient intake, procedure setup, phlebotomy, laboratory specimen handling, and administrative tasks. The role supports providers during examinations and treatments, helps maintain clean and stocked clinical areas, and contributes to patient care and billing documentation. The schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts per week, from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, and one Saturday per month from 6:45 AM to 12:30 PM. The employee may need to travel to other locations within the zone.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
• Phlebotomy skills.
• Esthetic or cosmetology license.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and verify their information by interviewing them, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of their visit.
• Collect and process blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens in compliance with CLIA standards.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, and providers’ instructions to patients.
• Clean and sterilize medical instruments.
• Document patient visits and record patient and laboratory charges for the billing department.
• Contact patients with laboratory and pathology results.
• Assist providers during examinations and treatments by handing them instruments or materials, giving injections, removing sutures, performing phlebotomy, or completing related tasks.
• Clean examination rooms and other work areas and stock inventory as needed.
• Train new employees as needed.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
