About The Position

Under general supervision, performs both front office and back office duties, including related support services. This role involves assisting with the day-to-day operations of the clinic, administering injections, assisting with procedures, obtaining patient medical history and vital signs, maintaining inventory, registering patients, preparing for the next day's clinic, and providing exceptional customer service. The Medical Assistant will also perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant and/or a Medical Assistant Diploma and/or a Medical Assistant Certification.
  • Knowledgeable of personal computers.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association.
  • Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EMR/EHR preferred.
  • Experience in a primary health care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the day-to-day operations of the front and back office, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Assists in the coordination of referrals and patient communication.
  • Administers injections and assists with non-invasive and direct patient care procedures (e.g., EKGs, vision/hearing screenings, waived testing).
  • Assists with medical examinations within the scope of practice.
  • Obtains patient medical history and vital signs, ensuring quality metrics are met and documented.
  • Prepares for and participates in Center internal/external audits.
  • Maintains inventory of medical supplies, immunizations, and operating supplies.
  • Ensures equipment is calibrated, charged, and cleaned.
  • Maintains and stocks medical supplies in exam rooms.
  • Registers patients, updates information, and performs data entry.
  • Verifies and activates patient insurance plans.
  • Ensures accurate posting of encounter data.
  • Completes end-of-day reconciliation reports and secures cash deposits.
  • Prepares for the next day's clinic by identifying appointment types, preparing charts, updating proof of income, pre-registering patients, and screening for program eligibility.
  • Provides exceptional customer service internally and externally.
  • Greets customers and addresses concerns.
  • Assists with other departments as appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
