About The Position
Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to support community oncologists and the patients they serve. The role provides patient care support, assists physicians when needed, prepares paper or electronic charts for physician review, and communicates professionally and courteously with patients, clients, and staff. The Medical Assistant is expected to work autonomously with little instruction and handle multiple tasks at the same time.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CMA (certified medical assistant) certification required.
- BLS CPR certification required.
Nice To Haves
- Two or more years of experience assisting in a clinic preferred.
- Oncology clinic experience highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Medical Oncologist in providing patient care when necessary or requested.
- Prepare charts for medical care to be rendered.
- Make necessary arrangements for patients, particularly those related to hospitalization.
- Handle phone calls professionally, courteously, and efficiently.
- File and scan records into patient charts in a timely manner.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
