About The Position

US Heart and Vascular is in need of a Medical Assistant to join our team at Heart Clinic of Hammond located in Hammond, LA. Hammond LA is located 45 miles east of Baton Rouge and 45 miles northwest of New Orleans. As the commercial hub Hammond boasts fine restaurants, modern shopping centers, beautiful parks and Southeastern Louisiana University. Requirements

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program
• Previous experience in Cardiology
• Experience with EKGs is required

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients, measures vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height and records information in patients’ charts.
• Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
• Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
• Help physicians examine and treat patients
• Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
• Operate electrocardiogram (EKG), or other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.
