This is a part-time Medical Assistant position at Georgia Oncology and Hematology Consultants. The role involves assisting physicians with medical procedures in the office, performing phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, and instrument troubleshooting and maintenance. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for ensuring quality control procedures are followed before patient testing, performing laboratory blood work, and accurately preparing slides for evaluation. They will also manage test report logs, quality control logs, and equipment records, and adhere to patient identification policies. Key duties include obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, receiving and documenting lab reports, assisting with various medical procedures, and scheduling outside testing or referrals. Thorough documentation in medical records, preparing encounter forms for billing, and maintaining supply inventory are also essential. The role requires troubleshooting instrument malfunctions, performing EKG testing, and ensuring laboratory compliance with state and federal regulations. The Medical Assistant must complete required continuing education units (CEUs) annually, observe safety guidelines, maintain cleanliness, and comply with all relevant laws and policies, including patient confidentiality. They may also assist in training new employees and be expected to work at any AON location or overtime as needed.
