About The Position

SMJMG Family Medicine is seeking a non-certified Medical Assistant in Palmyra, Virginia. This position works Monday through Friday for 40 hours per week, with a first/day shift from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional floating may be needed. Pediatric experience is highly preferred.

The Medical Assistant performs patient care, administrative, and clerical tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations. Duties are delegated and performed under the direction or supervision of a Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Registered Nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse.

Requirements

• One year of clinical or administrative experience is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Obtain one of the specified certifications within nine months of employment: CCMA, CMA, RMA, or EMT.
• BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Pediatric experience is highly preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations.
• Perform administrative and clerical tasks and procedures.
• Carry out delegated duties under the direction or supervision of a Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Registered Nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Occasionally float as needed.
