About The Position

The Medical Assistant prepares patients for examinations by recording vital signs and medical history and provides treatment as applicable. The role supports providers and the clinical team with procedures, laboratory work, patient documentation, scheduling, and patient education. Medical Assistants also help maintain clinic operations and contribute to seamless, patient-focused care.

Pay is based on experience and skills and falls within an established range.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Current BLS certification is required.

Nice To Haves

• Current Medical Assistant certification through a program such as RMA, AAMA, NCCT, CMAC, or AMCA is preferred.
• A minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination, record vital signs and history, and provide treatment as applicable.
• Prepare examination and treatment rooms; select, set up, sterilize, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for procedures.
• Prepare and administer injections, change dressings, and facilitate wound management under provider orders.
• Collect blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens through routine in-house testing procedures; analyze and prepare specimens for testing, log results, and perform laboratory call-backs.
• Document basic patient care and procedures using appropriate forms and electronic medical records.
• Schedule patients for tests and initial and follow-up appointments, as applicable in the care setting.
• Instruct patients and family members regarding treatment and medication instructions.
• Collaborate with the team, take direction, and initiate actions that support cross-functional teamwork and seamless patient care.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform opening and closing clinic duties and patient call-backs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
