Requirements

  • Clinical competence in phlebotomy, EKG administration, and injectable administration
  • Experience using EMR systems and comfort learning new healthcare technologies
  • Familiarity with insurance verification processes and basic billing terminology
  • Strong front-office skills: communication, multitasking, and professionalism
  • Empathetic approach to patient care and a team-player mindset
  • Ability to follow protocols, maintain confidentiality, and work in a fast-paced clinic

Nice To Haves

  • Previous medical assistant experience in a primary care, specialty, or weight-loss clinic
  • Certifications in phlebotomy, CPR, or medical assisting
  • Experience training or mentoring other clinical staff

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy, obtain and process lab specimens, and document results
  • Conduct EKGs and accurately record tracings
  • Administer injectables per protocol (IM/SubQ) and monitor patients post-administration
  • Obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and relevant clinical measurements
  • Prepare exam rooms, maintain clinical supplies, and follow infection control procedures
  • Assist providers with procedures and patient education as needed
  • Greet patients with empathy and professionalism and manage check-in/check-out processes
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to visits and document findings
  • Answer patient questions, provide clear instructions, and escalate concerns to clinical staff
  • Process payments, collect required forms, and handle basic billing-related tasks
  • Schedule and confirm appointments in the clinic scheduling system when requested
  • Maintain complete, timely, and confidential patient records in the EMR
  • Enter clinical data, lab orders, and test results with attention to detail
  • Manage daily front-desk opening/closing tasks as needed and support smooth patient flow
  • Assist with inventory tracking for clinical and front-office supplies
  • Participate in staff huddles, trainings, and quality-improvement efforts
