About The Position

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. The position works directly with a franchised business location, and specific duties and benefits may vary between franchises. American Family Care centers provide walk-in primary and urgent care, occupational medicine, and related services, with onsite laboratory and in-house X-ray capabilities.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

• AMT registration.
• AAMA Certified Medical Assistant credential.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vital signs and medical history, record the reason for the visit, and prepare patients for physical examinations.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to approved procedures.
• Draw blood and prepare laboratory samples for reference-lab and/or in-house processing.
• Perform laboratory tests, quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions.
• Respond to laboratory messages and callback requests.
• Perform drug screening procedures according to established rules and regulations.
• Ensure patient immunizations are documented and administered according to approved procedures.
• Conduct physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed.
• Prepare exam rooms and sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
