About The Position

The Medical Assistant assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a Physician. The role works in a center-based clinical setting and includes patient intake, clinical support, medical record maintenance, and preparation of examination and treatment rooms. The position requires a professional, positive, patient-focused approach and adherence to standards of business conduct and compliance. The work environment has moderate noise and potential exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. The role involves standing and sitting for hours at a time, some bending and stooping, manual dexterity for clinical tasks, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Requirements

Medical Assistant experience.
CPT I certification.
Experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital signs, and IM injections.
Ability to work well under pressure and respond quickly.
Neat and professional appearance.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Vocational certificate in Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

Interview patients; measure and record vital signs, weight, and height in patient charts.
Prepare treatment rooms and patients for examinations and treatment, including positioning patients and instruments.
Assist doctors during examinations and minor office procedures, including handing them instruments and materials as directed.
Clean and sterilize instruments.
Inventory and order medical supplies and materials.
Give injections or treatments and perform routine laboratory tests.
Perform venipunctures, EKGs, vital-sign measurements, blood draws, and injections.
Enter data into the computer to maintain office and patient records and assist doctors with charting.
Audit charts and review CPT and ICD-9 information.
Prepare examination and treatment rooms, including instrument preparation and sterilization, prescription refills, faxing, and filing.
