This position is primarily based at our Harbour View and Hampton offices. Occasional local travel to additional sites within your assigned geographic region may also be required. We are looking for a Medical Assistant to work alongside the physician and assist with patient care. This includes taking basic vital signs, preparing the room, verifying patient information, assisting with in-office procedures, and scheduling the patient’s next appointment. The Medical Assistant will also help manage the patient's schedule and assist with office duties.

Requirements

Medical Assistant certification with 2 years in a healthcare position preferred.
High school diploma or GED required, higher or continuing education a plus.
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision
Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft Office
Knowledge of basic medical procedures such as dressing a wound
Strong communication skills and ability to actively listen
Strong organizational and clerical skills to maintain patient files and perform office duties
Customer services skills
Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures
Local travel may be required to locations within your assigned geographic region.
The role must have reliable transportation and be able to travel from site to site, as assigned.

Responsibilities

Interview patients to gather medical history and update medical records
Gather basic vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, height, weight, and pulse
Prepare treatment rooms and patients for exam
Sterilize instruments and set up in-office procedure trays
Manage medical supplies and materials and work with their operational leader to order necessary inventory
Take x-rays
Medical Assistants will be cross trained to be able to cover front desk activities when needed
Other duties are to support the physician and team with patient care activities.
