About The Position

ECC Multi Specialty Services is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to join their team. The MA is an unlicensed individual who performs basic administrative, clerical (front office) tasks and routine medical (back office) tasks and procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed physician, designated advanced practice provider, or Registered Nurse in a clinical setting. They assist medical providers and may perform within the scope of practice of a medical assistant, such as supporting clinic operations, rooming patients by collecting and recording data (medical histories, questionnaires, medications, vital signs, etc.), preparing patients for evaluation, administering medications, performing lab draws, and participating in in-clinic procedures. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program OR Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant OR Completed a formal medical training program of the United States Armed Forces AND one year back-office patient care experience in a medical office OR Previous medical training such as an EMT, Nurse Assistant or Certified Nurse Assistant AND one year back-office patient care experience in a medical office OR Associate degree or higher in a clinical healthcare field and one-year back-office patient care experience in a medical office.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Skilled in both front and back-office clinic operations.
  • Familiarity with medication administration (oral, subcutaneous/intramuscular injections and inhaled medications, as applicable).
  • Ability to perform blood draws.
  • Ability to support in clinic procedural services as required by specialty.
  • Ability to interact professionally and communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and public.
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Demonstrate basic medical / technical competence.
  • General knowledge of point of care laboratory equipment.
  • Capable of utilizing clerical and computer skills for a variety of medical office support functions.
  • Show sensitivity for the patient and their family and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential.
  • Ability to fulfill the essential functions of the position and other clinic-based duties as required to support patient care within service, as applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • California certification as a Certified Medical Assistant
  • Experience within a specific service line specialty to which applying.
  • Medical office experience to include front and or back-office operations.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience, if required by specialty service

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic administrative and clerical (front office) tasks.
  • Perform routine medical (back office) tasks and procedures under direct supervision.
  • Collect and record patient data including medical histories, patient questionnaires, medications, height, weight, vital signs, pain, and fall risk.
  • Prepare patients for clinician evaluation.
  • Apply and remove dressings.
  • Administer medications (oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and inhaled).
  • Remove sutures.
  • Perform lab draws.
  • Participate/perform in-clinic procedures and other similar treatments and/or procedures within the MA scope of practice and organizational policy.
