About The Position

The Medical Assistant will perform various office, medical, and clinical duties, working directly with medical and clinical staff to assist with the needs of clients and their care while in treatment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of experience working for a healthcare practice or hospital.
  • Inventory management experience.
  • QMAP required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Ability to be compassionate to those needing and receiving services.
  • High level of professionalism.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Impeccable ethics, integrity, and patient relations skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  • Proficient with Google Suite or related software.
  • Must be adept at quickly learning multiple computer systems and platforms.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s EMR system.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Substance abuse/detox experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain all patient records via the EMR system.
  • Record patient information such as medical histories, vital signs, etc.
  • Perform basic lab tests.
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients.
  • Medication administration.
  • Instruct patients about medication.
  • Assist in maintaining the medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed.
  • Coordinate and schedule patient appointments as needed.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and forms.
  • Call in provider orders to ensure prescriptions are accurate and timely.
  • Assist with admits by following all steps and protocols of orientation, including conducting searches and cataloging of personal items.
  • Assist in searches, inspections, checks, and investigations as part of treatment procedures.
  • Ensure patient engagement in programming and activities.
  • Facilitate patient group sessions and ensure proper documentation.
  • Complete routine checks.
  • Participate in shift exchange, discussing any pertinent changes in the patients’ status (clinical, medical, behavioral, etc.).
  • Provide activity and appointment transportation for patients.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, HIPAA, and 42CFR Part 2 compliance, adhere to facility policy and procedures, State & Federal law, and accrediting agency regulations and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
