This Medical Assistant position is for Atrium Health Orthopedic Urgent Care, operating on a PRN (as needed) basis. The role involves providing patient care within the scope of practice for a Medical Assistant, adhering to all policies and procedures, and maintaining competency. Responsibilities include performing rooming tasks such as taking vital signs, reconciling medications, gathering medical history, and conducting screenings. The Medical Assistant will also assist providers with procedures, manage laboratory duties including specimen collection and tracking results, and perform Point of Care testing. Administering medications and vaccines safely, completing CLIA-waived tests, and assisting with tasks like medication refills, insurance authorizations, and patient messaging are also key functions. The role requires cross-training for relevant clinic duties, effective communication, teamwork, and maintaining a clean and stocked work environment. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, understanding growth and development across the lifespan.
