About The Position

The Medical Assistant supports the licensed healthcare team in an endocrinology clinic by organizing patient flow, gathering and documenting screening data, assisting with procedures, and supporting patient and family education and communication with the healthcare team. The role also helps maintain clinic supplies, equipment, and environmental standards, and identifies resources to meet patients’ healthcare needs. Clinical tasks may include assisting with vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, medication administration, and point-of-care testing, as directed by unit standards. The position requires maintaining patient exam rooms and using clinical applications for documentation. Candidates may be considered if they can obtain certification within 120 days, in accordance with state guidelines. Requirements

Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program.
Less than one year of relevant work experience.
Medical Assistant certification; consideration may be given to candidates who can obtain certification within 120 days, in accordance with state guidelines.

Responsibilities

Direct and support patient flow and unit operations by maintaining supplies, equipment, and environmental standards.
Facilitate identification of resources to meet patient healthcare needs.
Perform or assist with procedures according to organizational and departmental standards.
Collect and document patient screening data for the healthcare team.
Assist with patient and family education.
Communicate with patients’ healthcare teams.
Perform or assist with clinical care such as vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, medication administration, and point-of-care testing as directed by unit standards.
Set up and maintain patient exam rooms, supplies, and equipment.
