About The Position

Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Medical Assistant, where you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality primary and behavioral health care to our patients. Under the supervision of the Practice Manager, you will support medical providers, care managers, and other staff to ensure smooth clinic operations and exceptional patient experiences. Requirements

  • Completion of a Certified Medical Assisting Teaching Program, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and infection control practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with patients and team members.
  • Ability to work within the scope of practice and adhere to agency protocols and policies.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to perform each essential function duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program accredited by the CAAHEP, ABHES, ACCSC, or other accrediting body recognized by the US Department of Education.
  • CPR certified (BLS).
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to read, write and speak clearly understandable English.
  • Good interpersonal and human relations skills are required.
  • Must possess skills to empathize and care for a variety of patients, including low-income and diverse cultures and treat everyone (internal and external customers) with respect and dignity.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times in all situations and follow the laws and intent of the most current HIPAA laws and regulations and Canyonlands’ security and privacy policies.
  • Above average computer skills to operate and/or learn Agency’s current EMR/EHR system.
  • Ability to be physically active for long periods of time to ensure patient care and safety and have the ability to work well under pressure and present self in calm, caring, and professional manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a primary care or outpatient clinic setting preferred.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program accredited by the CAAHEP, ABHES, ACCSC, or other accrediting body recognized by the US Department of Education.
  • One (1) plus years of directly related clinical experience.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish/Navajo) language skills.
  • Extensive working knowledge of the NextGen EMR system.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs with the ability to effectively communicate using Outlook.
  • Skilled in patient assessment and medical assistant procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare examination rooms for patient visits by turning on instruments, computer systems, lights, and ensuring rooms are clean, organized, and well-stocked each morning.
  • Assist medical providers during patient examinations and procedures, including taking vital signs, recording patient histories, and preparing necessary supplies.
  • Support care coordination by facilitating patient flow within the clinic, scheduling follow-up appointments, and managing patient documentation.
  • Provide basic nursing care within the scope of certification and agency protocols, including administering medications, injections, and other treatments as directed.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records in accordance with privacy and confidentiality standards.
  • Ensure infection control protocols are followed and maintain a safe, clean environment in all clinical areas.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and provide excellent customer service, demonstrating professionalism and compassion.
  • Scheduling telehealth appointments for behavioral health patients.
  • Communicates with behavioral health Providers to ensure high quality patient care.
  • Medication prior authorizations and internal/external referrals for behavioral health patients.
  • Assisting behavioral health patients with screening questionnaires, medication follow ups, contracts and medical records.
