This role is responsible for delivering patient care through patient preparation, vital sign collection, and documentation. The Medical Assistant will assist with various procedures, exams, and diagnostic equipment, maintaining aseptic techniques during preparation, procedures, and medication administration. They will administer medications, treatments, and immunizations under the direction of providers, prepare and organize patient charts, and communicate with patients regarding test results and care plans. Additionally, the role involves scheduling procedures, labs, x-rays, and surgeries, providing pre- and post-surgery information, and assisting with patient outreach for overdue visits, labs, and referrals. Coordination of physician schedules and insurance pre-certifications, as well as scheduling and managing patient follow-ups, are also key responsibilities. The Medical Assistant must maintain patient confidentiality, adhere to organizational standards and ethical guidelines, and educate patients and families. They will serve as a patient advocate, assist in training new colleagues, and document patient plans of care. Ensuring safety checklists and quality controls are completed is also required. The role also requires maintaining a working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and Trinity Health's policies.
