Our Clinical Support staff collaborate with the care team to provide exceptional service to patients and staff. This involves enhancing patient relationships, pre-planning for visits, managing office workflows and patient access, assisting providers with rooming and electronic documentation, and coordinating patient health management activities. Clinical Support staff receive direction from on-site Clinical Supervisors, Managers, or the Director of Practice Operations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Related experience in a physician's office, medical setting or outpatient clinic required.
  • Must hold a current MA certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA or NCCT and retain active certification for duration of employment (For Clinical Support I).
  • If not a registered or certified MA, must achieve a national registration or certification as an MA within (6) months of start date.
  • Must maintain this registration or certification in good standing for the duration of employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and alignment with Martin’s Point values.
  • Venipuncture and Proper preparation of lab specimens preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a two-year accredited Medical Assistant Program/associate’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates patient-centered visits by ensuring proper screening, documentation, and testing.
  • Ensures all consults and charts are scanned, downloaded, and communicated in preparation for patient contact.
  • Works in provider desktop, reviews and assists with quality metrics and targets under provider supervision.
  • Coordinates and manages provider’s desktop activity (lab result reporting, phone calls, order entry, prescription processing, prior authorizations, and outreach efforts) following standard processes and protocols.
  • Performs direct patient care services in accordance with clinical protocols in a patient-centered manner.
  • Ensures provider schedule meets patient needs (visit and non-visit).
  • Participates in daily huddles and regular team meetings to improve workflows and patient population outcomes.
  • Performs and documents necessary ancillary tests such as EKGs, PFTs, Peak Flow Rates, Rapid Strep, HCG’s, Glucose Checks, INR’s, covid, flu, A1c, ear lavage, and lead and hemoglobin.
  • May perform various waived lab tests as ordered by provider.
  • Performs and documents lab specimen collection/processing, eye screening and audiology screening in accordance with current protocols and policies.
  • Administers immunizations, allergy shots, and medications in accordance with current protocols, ensuring level and scope of practice standards (depending on licensure).
  • Ensures exam rooms are prepared for patient visits, including equipment operability, supply inventory, and cleanliness.
  • Ensures patient care equipment operates in accordance with quality standards.
  • Provides patient education in support of patient visits and ongoing care.
  • Assists with orientation and training of new staff members.
  • Maintains clinical/technical skills and knowledge through ongoing development and continuing education.
  • Assists with minor office procedures including biopsies, excisions, and women’s health procedures.
  • Identifies necessary equipment and materials for patient visits.
  • Rooms patients in accordance with established protocol and visit standards.
  • Obtains and records vital signs.
  • Prepares and conducts EKGs, PFTs, eye and auditory screening, and ear lavage.
  • Completes CLIA waived lab testing.
  • Assists patient with peak flow.
  • Prepares patient health information via electronic records.
  • Schedules patient appointments.
  • Performs and documents immunizations and injections.
  • Performs prescription refills per protocols.
  • Reports lab results per protocol.
  • Works consistently to demonstrate the mission, vision, and core values of the organization.
