This position is primarily based at our Hillpoint & Chesapeake offices. Occasional local travel to additional sites within your assigned geographic region may also be required.

Requirements

  • Medical Assistant certification with 2 years in a healthcare position preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required, higher or continuing education a plus.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision
  • Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of basic medical procedures such as dressing a wound
  • Strong communication skills and ability to actively listen
  • Strong organizational and clerical skills to maintain patient files and perform office duties
  • Customer services skills
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures
  • Local travel may be required to locations within your assigned geographic region. This role will be assigned to cover a geographic area; however, you may be required to occasionally travel outside of your assigned regional area to support the other regional coverage needs of the organization.
  • The role must have reliable transportation and be able to travel from site to site, as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients to gather medical history and update medical records
  • Gather basic vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, height, weight, and pulse
  • Prepare treatment rooms and patients for exam
  • Sterilize instruments and set up in-office procedure trays
  • Manage medical supplies and materials and work with their operational leader to order necessary inventory
  • Take x-rays
  • Medical Assistants will be cross trained to be able to cover front desk activities when needed
  • Other duties are to support the physician and team with patient care activities.
