About The Position

The Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. The role includes patient intake, recording clinical information, preparing examination and treatment rooms, supporting physicians during examinations and minor procedures, performing routine clinical tasks, and maintaining patient and office records. The position is center-based in a clinical setting with moderate noise and potential exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens.

Requirements

Medical Assistant experience.
CPT I certification.
Experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital signs, and IM injections.
Ability to work well under pressure and be quick on your feet.
Neat and professional appearance.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Vocational certificate in Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

Interview patients; measure vital signs, including pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height; and record information in patient charts.
Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and treatments, including preparing and sterilizing instruments.
Drape and position patients, instruments, and equipment as needed.
Hand instruments and materials to the physician as directed and assist during minor office procedures.
Clean and sterilize instruments.
Inventory and order medical supplies and materials.
Give injections or treatments and perform routine laboratory tests.
Enter data into the computer to maintain office and patient records.
Assist doctors with charting and conduct chart audits, including CPT and ICD-9 review.
Perform venipunctures, EKGs, blood draws, vital-sign measurements, and injections.
Prepare examination and treatment rooms and handle prescription refills, faxing, and filing.
