About The Position

Arc Point Labs – West Chester, PA is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support our clinical and laboratory operations. The Medical Assistant will play an important role in providing an excellent patient experience while ensuring accurate specimen collection, proper specimen handling, and efficient coordination of laboratory services. The ideal candidate is professional, organized, comfortable working directly with patients, and committed to accuracy, confidentiality, safety, and high-quality service.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Phlebotomy training and/or certification strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience with blood draws, specimen collection, or laboratory services preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required based on position requirements.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records, laboratory information systems, or patient registration systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and provide a professional, respectful, and positive experience.
  • Verify patient identification and required demographic and testing information.
  • Obtain and document relevant patient information accurately.
  • Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures within the scope of training and applicable regulations.
  • Collect blood, urine, swab, and other clinical specimens according to established procedures.
  • Properly label, process, prepare, and package specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Ensure specimen integrity and compliance with laboratory collection and handling requirements.
  • Explain collection procedures to patients and answer routine questions regarding the collection process.
  • Recognize and appropriately respond to patients who experience discomfort, dizziness, or other reactions during specimen collection.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked patient collection areas.
  • Follow established infection-control, OSHA, safety, and laboratory procedures.
  • Prepare specimens for testing, transport, or processing according to established protocols.
  • Verify specimen labeling and documentation before specimens enter the laboratory workflow.
  • Assist with point-of-care testing and other laboratory-related procedures as authorized.
  • Maintain accurate specimen logs and required documentation.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate supplies for specimen collection and patient care.
  • Identify and report specimen discrepancies, collection issues, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Follow all applicable laboratory quality-control and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain strict attention to detail to minimize specimen identification and processing errors.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments when applicable.
  • Answer phones and respond to patient questions professionally.
  • Assist patients with registration, check-in, and required paperwork.
  • Verify patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Process laboratory requisitions and other required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, laboratories, couriers, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Assist with medical records and documentation as needed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable privacy requirements.
  • Provide timely and professional customer service to patients and referring providers.
