About The Position

The Medical Assistant supports Orthopedic and Surgical Podiatry clinic providers at Lake Cumberland Physician Practices by providing clinical care and administrative support. The role contributes to efficient clinic operations, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and a positive patient experience. The Medical Assistant works with providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams to support patient flow and revenue cycle processes. Under the supervision of a physician or nurse, the Medical Assistant assists with patient assessments and treatments, performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection, monitors and communicates changes in patient condition, documents care, and helps maintain clinic equipment, supplies, and examination areas. Administrative duties may include filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration. The schedule is five 8-hour day shifts, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient assessments and treatments under the supervision of a physician or nurse.
• Perform basic diagnostic procedures and collect specimens.
• Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Document patient care provided.
• Maintain medical equipment and supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain examination areas.
• Perform assigned administrative or clerical duties, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
