About The Position

Mass General Brigham Medical Group Northern Massachusetts, Inc. is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to work onsite Monday through Friday, with 8-hour shifts scheduled between 7:45 AM and 5:00 PM. This position works closely alongside a provider in a 1:1 support model, in partnership with another Medical Assistant. The provider sees a combination of primary care and dermatology patients, creating a unique opportunity for an experienced Medical Assistant to support both routine primary care visits and dermatology-focused care. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in both primary care and procedural-based clinical settings. Dermatology experience is highly preferred, as the role involves assisting with dermatologic procedures, administering injections, performing suture removal, and supporting other in-office procedures. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, balancing routine primary care responsibilities with procedural dermatology support. The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required
Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] preferred
Certified Medical Assistant preferred
Medical Assistant Course or diploma program or a minimum of 1 year professional experience
National MA Certification via AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT
Epic experience
Ambulatory/Outpatient experience
Primary Care experience

Nice To Haves

Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred
Dermatology experience is highly preferred
Experience administering a vaccine

Responsibilities

Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.
Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.
Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
