Requirements
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
- Phlebotomy training and hands-on experience required
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in gynecology required
- High level of attention to detail, organization, and professionalism
Nice To Haves
- Preferred experience includes assisting with IUD placements, Pap smear collection, vaginal swabs, and hormone lab workflows.
- Prior experience in gynecology, urology, or women’s health strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Athenahealth (Athena) is a plus
- Excellent bedside manner and strong patient service skills
- Ability to thrive in a concierge-style, patient-focused environment
Responsibilities
- Assist the provider with examinations and in-office procedures, including gynecologic exams (speculum and bimanual exams), Pap smears, STI swabs, vaginal cultures, endometrial biopsy setup, and IUD insertions/removals (setup, sterile field preparation, instrument handling, and patient positioning support)
- Prepare exam rooms and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment with full procedural readiness for gynecologic procedures (IUD kits, biopsy instruments, culture swabs, colposcopy setup if applicable)
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection
- Obtain and document vital signs and patient medical histories, including gynecologic history (cycle tracking, perimenopausal symptoms, contraceptive history, sexual health history, pelvic pain, bleeding patterns, and PMS/PMDD screening)
- Educate patients on procedures, treatment plans, and follow-up care, including coordinating lab orders and assisting with specimen collection.
- Manage clinical documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Coordinate care and communicate effectively with front desk and administrative staff
- Ensure compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and HIPAA regulations
- Sterilize, process, and maintain clinical instruments and equipment
- Monitor inventory and order clinical supplies as needed
- Triage phone calls related to clinical questions, results, and patient concerns when appropriate
