About The Position

Franciscan Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join their Munster Campus. In this role, you will be crucial in supporting a variety of clinical duties for multiple ambulatory clinics. You will assist providers and staff in coordinating patient care, scheduling appointments, executing physician orders for lab testing, entering information into the electronic medical record system, and serving as a liaison between patients, coworkers, and providers. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Completion of a Medical Assisting Program OR 5 years of medical assistant experience
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Allied Health OR Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) OR Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT) OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Registry of Medical Assistants OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) OR National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA) OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Performance Specialists (NPS)

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients
  • Taking vitals
  • Obtaining a comprehensive medical history
  • Documenting patient care via electronic medical record
  • Administering vaccines, injections, and medications
  • Performing phlebotomy
  • Conducting point of care testing
  • Performing medication reconciliation under the supervision of RN/Provider
  • Gathering requirements from internal and external customers and providing information via phone, electronic messaging, and in person
  • Initiating and following through on prior authorizations, referrals, and processing sample medications, prescriptions, and refills as directed
