About The Position

The Support Medical Assistant (MA) provides clinical and administrative support in outpatient primary and specialty care under a licensed clinician. This role emphasizes patient- and family-centered care through collaboration with healthcare professionals and manages instrument supply, including inspection, decontamination, and sterilization. The MA will also perform environmental maintenance duties as assigned for clinical equipment within Dermatology, Mohs, Audiology and ENT departments, ensuring proper cold chain management for the storage of medications and therapeutic injections, and sorting, inspecting, and assembling procedural instruments and safety equipment with knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations. Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations
  • Basic knowledge of equipment used within Dermatology, Mohs, Audiology and ENT departments.
  • Demonstrates excellent professional judgement, phone skills and prioritization decision-making skills.
  • Current CMA or RMA certification preferred
  • BLS required
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft applications, and electronic medical record (EMR) experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Gathers and updates relevant patient information and vital signs in the chart based on visit type.
  • Prepares patients for visits by obtaining pertinent data and vitals.
  • Completes clinical tasks as directed by licensed Clinician, including medication and/or vaccine administration, performing diagnostic screenings, accurately collecting and preparing specimens for testing, setting up and assisting with in-office clinical procedures, refilling medications per protocol, and completing patient clinical documents.
  • Maintains clinical equipment and supplies including rotation, stocking and cleaning.
  • Documents accurately, appropriately and timely into patients’ chart.
  • Performs administrative duties as assigned including patient outreach and scheduling.
  • Coordinates patient care management with in-house specialties, community resources, home health, hospital or acute care.
  • Completes mandatory educational requirements and maintains required BLS certification.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and InterMed policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the mission, vision and values of InterMed.
  • Performs environmental maintenance duties as assigned for clinical equipment within Dermatology, Mohs, Audiology and ENT departments.
  • Ensures proper cold chain management for the storage of medications and therapeutic injections.
  • Sorts, inspects, and assembles procedural instruments and safety equipment with knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations.
