About The Position

Preferred Primary Care Physicians is currently recruiting for a full-time, experienced, Medical Assistant for our practice located in the Uniontown, PA area. The role involves assisting physicians and nurses with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. This may include appointment scheduling and electronic chart management. Requirements

  • Strong medical terminology background.
  • Documented experience in all MA duties such as rooming patients, taking vitals, administering injections, triage, etc.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of medical assistant.
  • Six (6) months of medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting preferred, however open to new graduate applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam or treatment rooms as appropriate.
  • Records all patient data prior to the physician or nurse seeing the patient, including vital signs, height and weight, allergies, medications, chief complaint, reason for visit, etc.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as directed by the physician.
  • Answers and returns patient phone calls as directed, including contacting pharmacies for prescriptions or handling other patient calls as directed.
  • Obtains all necessary patient record information, lab data, diagnostics, consults, etc. as required by the physician or nurse for assessment of the patient's medical status.
  • Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed in accordance with OSHA and universal safety precautions.
  • Assists with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Assists with scheduling tests, procedures or appointments to follow-up on test results.
  • Prepares, maintains and stocks exam and treatment rooms. Orders supplies as needed.
  • Obtains new patient information and any test results.
  • Assists with administrative duties such as typing, faxing, reception duties, etc.
  • Processes instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Informs physician of patient reschedule or no-shows.
  • Assists with delegated patient education activities including distributing educational literature, etc.
  • Maintains the strictest confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the physician, nurse or office manager.
