About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support clinical and administrative tasks in our fast-paced care center. The role requires strong organization, adaptability, and a commitment to high-quality patient care and teamwork. This position will also be responsible for triage and check-out functions, which include scheduling procedures. Founded in 2011, Florida Digestive Health Specialists (FDHS) is the state's largest single-specialty, physician-owned gastroenterology practice. The Medical Assistant will support the daily operations of the gastroenterology office by providing clinical and administrative assistance to physicians, clinicians, and patients. The Medical Assistant role is essential in ensuring smooth patient flow, accurate electronic record-keeping, and optimal patient care.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in gastroenterology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, providers, and team members
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Certification of Completion of accredited MA program (CMA or RMA) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment by taking vital signs, medical history, and documenting information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Responsible for entering recalls and handling new prescription/prescription refills as directed by the physician
  • Responsible for scheduling for outpatient procedures as ordered by physician.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members to ensure patient care is delivered seamlessly and safely
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards
  • Triage phone calls accordingly
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as needed basis
  • Maintain patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Other duties as assigned
