Medical Assistant
About The Position
The Medical Assistant position within the Nursing Services Unit performs administrative and patient care tasks, supportive counseling, and a variety of treatments, under the close supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician. The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled health professional who works interdependently with other health care professionals to provide quality health care to the patient. Duties include maintaining the patient care environment, performing routine clerical functions, and transporting and moving patients. Also includes obtaining and recording pertinent health information, maintaining patient data, and providing information to patients and families. This position is utilized in primary care, gynecology, same day care, after hours, mini-clinic and sports medicine settings within this organization.
Requirements
- Completion of an approved Medical Assistant program
- Certification or registration to practice as a Medical Assistant to perform the duties of the position
- Certification or registration may be by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), registered through the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or as a Clinical Medical Assistant by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
