About The Position
US Heart and Vascular is hiring a Medical Assistant for HeartPlace in Bedford, Texas. The position involves supporting patient visits and diagnostic testing, handling patient communications and records, coordinating procedures with hospitals, and traveling to satellite clinics. The role is full time and follows a Monday–Friday day schedule.
Requirements
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program is required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
Nice To Haves
- Cardiac experience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Record patients’ vital signs, including pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, in their charts.
- Coordinate with the medical assistant technician to room patients promptly.
- Operate electrocardiograph (EKG), treadmill, and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.
- Complete testing orders per physician instructions.
- Send prescriptions per physician orders.
- Order tests and explain them to patients.
- Administer injections or treatments and perform routine laboratory tests.
- Arrange procedures with hospitals, including completing and faxing hospital forms.
- Review procedures and instructions with patients.
- Escort patients to check-out.
- Check voicemails and enter messages into eCW.
- Return patient calls and tasks, acknowledge receipt of voicemails, and advise that an answer is being sought.
- Ensure charts have been checked and contain the proper paperwork.
- Prepare a bag for travel to satellite clinics and travel as required.
- Safeguard the privacy of patient health information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
