About The Position

Under the supervision of the Director, Chairman, or Manager, assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the provider. May also be involved in other areas including clerical, environmental, and organizational support.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification, or equivalent course credentialed by American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of six months related experience and/or training in similar medical practice/field.
  • Regularly lift, carry or push/pull up to 10 pounds.
  • Frequently lift, carry or push/pull up to 10 - 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift, carry or push/pull up to 20 - 50 pounds.
  • Frequently required to do repetitive motion, hear, perform activities that require fine motor skills, reach, speak, stand, and walk.
  • Occasionally required to bend, climb, kneel, sit, smell, and squat.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception, far vision, near vision, and peripheral vision.
  • Frequently exposed to bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, moving mechanical parts, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Occasionally exposed to airborne pathogens, chemotherapeutic agents, electrical hazards - shock, non-weather related heat or cold, radiation, and slippery surfaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Some additional training beyond high school, but less than an Associates Degree.

Responsibilities

  • Triage calls and identifies patient's health problem or concern.
  • Schedules/reschedules appointments.
  • Greets patients and escorts them to exam room.
  • Interviews patients during visit.
  • Prepares patient treatment room.
  • Assist provider with examination/procedure.
  • Cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization.
  • Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.
  • Completes documentation of patient care and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
