About The Position

The Medical Assistant assists physicians and patients with daily needs and responsibilities. The role supports efficient clinical operations, patient care, exam room turnover, and unit functioning.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Typing speed greater than 35 WPM.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Specialized knowledge and skills in budgeting, oral communication, written communication, technical communication, customer relations, customer service, diplomacy, organization, and project management.

Prior work-related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee and ensure efficient turnover of exam rooms.
Maintain exam rooms in a neat and clean manner.
Respond to patient needs.
Escort patients from the waiting room to examination rooms.
Remove dressings and casts, and provide patients with gowns as necessary.
Ensure patient charts contain pertinent information and are placed in designated areas for physicians.
Alert physicians to patients’ allergies before examinations begin.
Assist physicians with injections, aspirations, castings, and other procedures as necessary.
Monitor supply levels and replace supplies as needed.
Instruct patients on information needed after leaving the office, including use of braces or crutches, medication usage, and home exercise programs.
Photocopy information given to patients and place copies in appropriate charts.
Apply knowledge of sterile techniques and OSHA regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned to support efficient unit functioning, including answering phones, scheduling patients, computer input, verifying insurance coverage, completing paperwork, collecting payments, assisting with marketing and sales activities, and assisting with laundry and housekeeping tasks.
