Medical Assistants perform a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to help provide care to patients, support providers, and keep office operations running smoothly. This role involves accurate patient registration and scheduling, maintaining medical and office supply inventories, processing supply orders, and adhering to Quality Assurance/Quality Control standards. The Medical Assistant will also handle lab requests, referrals, health forms, and maintain mandated logs. Key clinical duties include administering injections, EKGs, spirometry, phlebotomy, and rendering therapeutic treatments as instructed by the physician. Administrative responsibilities include determining patient eligibility for programs like Medicaid EVS, identifying referral and preauthorization needs, screening office calls, greeting patients professionally, and ensuring proper telephone etiquette regarding protected health information. Accurate and timely data input into the electronic health record is essential, with access limited to job-related information. The role requires obtaining and documenting patient vital signs, interviewing and triaging patients to ensure a smooth workflow, assisting providers during examinations, and providing general assistance to the provider and staff. Demonstrating I.C.A.R.E. behaviors to improve the patient experience is also a key aspect of this position. Other projects and duties may be assigned.
