About The Position

MaineGeneral's Medical Assistant (MA) Earn to Learn Program is seeking applicants for its next class, scheduled to begin on Monday, September 14, 2026. This paid, benefit-eligible training position offers a structured weekly schedule of 32 hours per week. The program includes approximately 168 hours of classroom instruction and over 240 hours of hands-on clinical experience, designed to prepare participants for a Medical Assistant role. Participants are compensated for all scheduled training hours and, upon successful completion, are eligible to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam administered by the National HealthCare Association (NHA). MaineGeneral fully covers the cost of the training program. As part of the program, participants will apply for open Medical Assistant positions during their training. While a position is not guaranteed, the program aims to support successful graduates in securing a benefit-eligible MA role upon completion.

Requirements

  • A current resume must be submitted with your application.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Commitment to attend all classes and complete the program is essential.
  • Must commit to working as a Medical Assistant at MaineGeneral for a minimum of 24 months after program completion.
  • Must pass the CASAS exam with at least a 10th-grade reading level and an 8th-grade math level prior to the start date.
  • Must be able to work at any MaineGeneral location in the Gardiner/Augusta/Waterville area as scheduled.

Nice To Haves
