The Neuroscience Institute is now hiring for a team-oriented and personable Medical Assistant for our Neurosurgery Clinic located on the Boise Regional Medical Center campus! This Medical Assistant position will provide direct support to two providers in the clinic. The clinic boasts a culture of collaborative, autonomous, connected, welcoming, hardworking, and rewarding. Please make sure you meet the minimum requirements (see below) for this position before applying. CNA and EMT certification/experience does not qualify for this position. As the regional provider of advanced neurological services, Saint Alphonsus neurologists provide care for patients with complex conditions, neurodegenerative disorders, seizures, and general neurological disease. The Saint Alphonsus Medical Group Neurosurgery clinics are a resource for the microsurgical treatment of neurological conditions. Our board-certified neurosurgeons specialize in the surgical treatment of neurological cases ranging from neck and spine problems to the most complex neurovascular disorders. The Neurosurgery clinic team works in tandem with our neurosurgical team as well as supporting our neuro-ophthalmologist who is the only one in the state of Idaho!

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire
  • MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Healthcare Association (CCMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), American Medical Certification Association (CMAC), National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
  • MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school (for New Graduates)
  • Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hours even with MA certification (for New Graduates)
  • 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above (for Medical Assistant with Experience)
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients and taking vitals
  • Perform prior authorizations for medications, procedures, and imaging
  • Complete chart prep
  • Follow up on imaging orders
  • Calling patients with surgery instructions
  • Occasional set up for a procedure
