About The Position

Gastro Florida is seeking an experienced, competent, conscientious, service-oriented Medical Assistant to work in a fast-paced outpatient environment with high-volume patient loads. The role requires the ability to integrate quickly with training and work under the direction of the division practice manager. The Medical Assistant may need to float to different locations as needed. Immediate availability is preferred, and the organization is ready to onboard the right candidate immediately. Criminal background and drug screening, as well as excellent professional references, are required.

Requirements

• Previous specialty office care experience is required.
• Reliable attendance is essential.
• Ability to float to different locations as needed.
• Criminal background and drug screening are required.
• Excellent professional references are required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous GI experience is helpful.
• Immediate availability is preferred.
• Strong proficiency with eClinicalWorks (ECW).
• Understanding of common medications used to treat chronic conditions.

Responsibilities

• Handle patient check-in and check-out.
• Verify insurance.
• Complete patient intake, take vital signs, and reconcile medications.
• Complete medication refills and process medication prior authorizations.
• Enter orders, perform CPT coding, and support providers with documentation.
• Manage the fax inbox, including timely review, routing, and documentation.
• Schedule patient appointments, follow-ups, and procedures such as colonoscopies and EGDs, and coordinate provider workflows.
