About The Position

The Medical Assistant works collaboratively with physicians and/or advanced practice providers in an ambulatory care setting. The role assists with preparing and delivering ambulatory patient care as directed by providers and other licensed clinical personnel. The Medical Assistant consistently performs clinical duties according to departmental policies and procedures. Care follows the nursing process and supports the medical plan of treatment appropriate to an ambulatory setting, with an emphasis on good customer relations.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for 40 standard weekly hours. The position is based at the Dodson Medical Office Building in the Cardiology-Outpatient Clinic. The employee must maintain a primary residence in Texas and the licenses and credentials required for the position throughout employment.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Graduation from an accredited medical assistant school or current medical assistant certification.
• Current BLS certification.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced ambulatory care setting.
• Willingness and flexibility to float to multiple clinic locations as needed.
• Maintain a primary residence in Texas and all licenses and credentials required for the position throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

• Prior medical assistant experience is preferred.
• National certification is preferred.
