About The Position

US Heart and Vascular is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the HeartPlace team in Bedford, Texas. The Medical Assistant supports patient care and clinic operations by recording vital signs, preparing patients for visits and tests, operating diagnostic equipment, carrying out physician-ordered treatments, coordinating procedures, handling patient communications, and maintaining accurate records and patient privacy. Travel to satellite clinics is required.

Requirements

Completion of a Medical Assistant program is required.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Travel to satellite clinics is required.

Nice To Haves

Cardiac experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Record patients’ pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height in their charts.
Coordinate with the medical assistant tech to ensure patients are roomed promptly.
Operate EKG, treadmill, and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.
Complete testing orders per physician direction.
Send prescriptions according to physician orders.
Order tests and explain them to patients.
Give injections or treatments and perform routine laboratory tests.
Arrange procedures with hospitals, including completing hospital forms and faxing them back.
Review procedures and instructions with patients.
Escort patients to check-out.
Check voicemails and enter messages into eCW.
Return patient calls and tasks, acknowledge receipt of voicemails, and communicate that an answer is being sought.
Ensure charts have been checked and include the proper paperwork.
Prepare a bag for travel to satellite clinics.
Safeguard the privacy of patient health information.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
